Paramedical staff begins strike

Strike Season is on Where is the Government and what he is doing?After Electricity Cut protest now Faisalabad Paramedical staff is at strike.The paramedical staff of government hospitals observed a strike on Saturday to demand a raise in wages and a service structure.

The paramedical staff of Allied Hospital, DHQ hospitals, the Ghulam Muhammadabad General Hospital and Faisalabad Institute of Cardiology (FIC) were all on strike for the day.

The staff protested in front of their hospitals and held banners and placards in favour of their demands.

Allied Hospital Action Committee President Hakeem Khan Niazi said that if the government did not accept their demands, they would have to take direct action to protect their rights.

“The chief minister promised to fulfill our demand for better wages and a new service structure but there has been no progress,” he said.

He said that paramedical staff should be given the same health allowance and pay protection allowance as doctors and nurses. He demanded that all contractual employees and daily wage earners should be given regular jobs. “The strike affected the functioning of hospitals. Both indoor and outdoor patients were affected,” DHQ Medical Superintendent Dr Mohammad Arif said.

Saira Bibi, a ward attendant, said nurses and doctors could not cover for the absence of paramedical staff.
