Arfa Karim Randhawa (Urdu: ارفع کریم رندهاوا‎) (1995 – January 14, 2012), in Jatt Randhawa family was a student from village Chak No. 4JB Ram Dewali, Faisalabad in Pakistan, who in 2004 at the age of 9 years, became the youngest Microsoft Certified Professionals (MCPs) in the world, a title she kept until 2008. She was invited by Bill Gates to visit the Microsoft Headquarters in USA. S. Somasegar, the vice president of the Software Development Division, wrote about it in his blog. Returning to Pakistan
On returning to Pakistan, Arfa had numerous interviews on almost all of the country’s known television channels and newspapers. In August 2005, Arfa Karim received the Fatimah Jinnah Gold Medal in the field of Science and Technology, presented by the Prime Minister of Pakistan at that time. She also received the Salaam Pakistan Youth Award again in August 2005 by the President of Pakistan. Arfa Karim  kareem is also the recipient of the President’s Award for Pride of Performance. This is a very high level civil award granted to people who have shown excellence in their respective fields over a long period of time. Arfa is till now the youngest recipient of that award ever.
Representation on International Forums
Arfa Karim has also represented Pakistan on various international forums, she was invited by the IT Professionals of Dubai for a stay of two weeks in Dubai. A dinner reception was hosted for her there, which was attended by the diagnostics of Dubai including the Ambassador of Pakistan. During that trip, Arfa was presented with various medals and awards. She also flew a plane in a flying club in Dubai at the age of 10, and received the first flight certificate.
Invitation by Microsoft
In November 2006, Arfa was invited by Microsoft to be a part of the keynote session in the Tech-Ed Developers conference held in Barcelona. The theme of the conference was “Get ahead of the game” and Arfa was presented as a true specimen of being ahead of the game. She was the only Pakistani among over 5000 developers in that conference.

Cardiac Attack :

As of 2011, at the age of 16, Arfa Karim was studying at Lahore Grammar School Paragon Campus in her second year of A Levels. She suffered from cardiac arrest after an epileptic seizure on December 22, 2011 and was admitted to Lahore’s Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in critical condition.

On January 2, 2012 Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani visited the hospital with his daughter Fiza Batol Gilani to inquire about the health of Arfa Karim Randhawa.

On January 9, 2012, Bill Gates, Chairman of Microsoft, has made contact with Arfa’s parents, and directed his doctors to adopt “every kind of measure” for her treatment. Gates’ doctors contacted Arfa’s Pakistani doctors and received details about the illness through internet. On the other hand, relatives and family members of Arfa have lauded Bill Gates for contacting to bear her treatment expenses. They also expressed their dissatisfaction over Pakistan government attitude which despite repeated claims did not pay any head towards the issue.
Signs of Improvement
On January 13, 2012, The condition of world’s youngest MCP Arfa Karim started to improve and some parts of her brain showed signs of improvement. Arfa felt desperately ill the previous month and doctors say that she had suffered brain damage, leaving her in a coma at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Lahore. Her father, Amjad Karim Randhawa, said Microsoft had raised the possibility of flying Arfa to the US for care.
Death
In what could simply be described as an enormous loss for Pakistan, Arfa Karim, the world’s youngest Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) lost the battle of life after remaining admitted here at Combined Military Hospital for 26 days. On January 14, 2012 16 years old Arfa Karim died at 9:50 PM (Pakistan Standard Time) at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Lahore. Her Namaz e Janaza was offered in Cavalry Ground Lahore at 10pm on 15th January 2012.

World’s Youngest MCP Arfa Karim Randhawa Shows Signs Of Life
LAHORE: Arifa Karim Randhawa, the child tech prodigy in critical condition, has shown some sign of life after she moved some of her fingers and her brain showed some activity, her Father Lt Col (Retd) Amjad Karim Randhawa told The Express Tribune on Friday.
Karim, who is still on life support, is still in a critical state and is being tended to the doctors, who had earlier lost hope of the child’s recovery.

Her father said that the family has received a flood of calls from all over the world inquiring after her health and praying for her recovery.
On December 22, Aarifa was admitted to Lahore’s CMH hospital after suffering cardiac arrest. On Thursday, doctors said there was no hope for her survival, and that her life support could be switched off ‘at any time’.
However, after this latest development, doctors and experts at Lahore’s Mayo hospital are working to save Arifa.
When Aarifa, now 16, was given the title of a Microsoft professional as a young child, she visited the company’s headquarters in the US. When she met Bill Gates himself, she had two questions: Why weren’t children allowed to work for Microsoft, and why such few women worked for the organisation.

Arifa’s death widely condoled in Pakistan
Lahore: The Youngest Microsoft certified Arifa Kareem’s death has widely been condoled in the Pakistan.
Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gialni, in their separate condolence messages, expressed deep sense of grief and sorrow over the death of the youngest software engineer of the world.
Meanwhile, politicians including former President Pervez Musharraf, PML-N President Mian Nawaz Sharif, Jamat e Islami chief Syed Munawar Hassan, Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, MQM Chief Altaf Hussain, Khursheed Shah, Senator Hasil Bazinjo, PML-Q President Shujjat Hussain, Chaudhry Pervez Elahi, Arbab Alamgir, Fiza Batool Gilani, Islamuddin Sheikh and others expressed their shock over the death of the Arifa.
They remarked, Arifa Karim was a talented daughter of Pakistan who enlightened the country in the entire world through her God gifted abilities in her early age.
They said whole nation shared the grief of Irfa Karim’s parents and family.

World’s youngest Microsoft certified passes away in Lahore
LAHORE : The Youngest Microsoft certified Arifa Kareem passes away at the Combined Military Hospital in Lahore, TV channels reported on Saturday night.
She became the world s youngest MCP in 2003 at the age of 9.
Sixteen-year-old Arifa s funeral prayer will be offered at three different places on Sunday at 10am in Canttonment area of Lahore, her family was quoted as saying. Her body will be shifted to hometown of Faislabad.
She remained in intensive care unit at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) after suffering an epileptic seizure and cardiac arrest a few weeks ago.
However, she had then miraculously responded to certain stimuli, as recently as January 14.
Aarifa s father, retired Lieutenant Colonel of army Amjad Karim Randhawa said she had shown the sign of life when her foot was stimulated. Her toes curved slightly downward when her foot was tickled, he said, adding that earlier she had exhibited the Corneal Reflex, whereby her eyes blinked a few times.
Arifa, 16, is a daughter of retired Lt. Colonel of Pakistan army.
She was invited by Bill Gates to visit the Microsoft headquarters in the USA when she was only 10-year-old. In August 2005, Arifa was also awarded the Fatima Jinnah Gold Medal in the field of science and technology by then Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz.

Child prodigy: Aarifa Karim loses race for her life
LAHORE: Aarifa Karim Randhawa, the worlds youngest Microsoft certified professional lost the battle for her life after suffering from heart failure, her paternal uncle confirmed on Saturday.
On December 22, Aarifa was admitted to Lahore’s CMH hospital after suffering cardiac arrest. On December 29, doctors said there was no hope for her survival, and that her life support could be switched off ‘at any time’.
However, she had then miraculously responded to certain stimuli, as recently as January 14. FEDERAL Minister for Information Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan on Saturday visited the residence of late Arfa Kareem, world’s youngest certified IT professional and expressed condolences with her family over her death. Talking to the media, the federal minister said that daughters of nation like Arfa were a great pride for nation and the government would never ignore students like her. She also said that state television would also telecast a documentary film on Arfa Karim and a book would also be published on her. She also announced donation of Rs 1 million to the Arfa Karim Foundation founded by her parents with a motive to support deserving students.
