Agriculture University Faisalabad

University is among one of the few institutes around the globe that are offering quality education of agriculture. Agriculture is one of the oldest professions of all time and now not considered less Important than Industry and other form of business.
The University of Agriculture, Faisalabad (or UAF) originally the Punjab Agricultural College and Research Institute, Lyallpur, is a university in the city of Faisalabad, Punjab, Pakistan. University of Agriculture, Faisalabad is the largest university in Asia and as per a previous report It is among the ten largest universities around the globe.It was established in 1906 and was the first major institution of higher agricultural education in the undivided Punjab.

At independence in 1947 Pakistan was a predominantly agricultural country and in spite of subsequent industrialization and development, agriculture remains central to its economy. After independence the Government of Pakistan appointed National Commissions on Food and Education with the terms of reference to review the agrarian system and to formulate measures for developing agricultures potential. The commissions made a plea for the establishment of an agricultural university for research and education in agriculture. It was established by upgrading the former Punjab Agricultural College and Research Institute in 1961.Recently in 2011 the university has launched "golden jubilee ceremony" on completing its 50 years of excellence in the field of agriculture and research.

The beautiful University campus over an area of 1,950 acres on both angles represents history and the present era. The lush green new campus which is conglomeration of monolithic blocks built in modern style. The old campus a reminiscent of traditional Muslim architecture reminds of the Agriculture College, it now houses the Faculty of Sciences. The University campus is located in the center of the city at a distance of 12km. North-East of the Faisalabad International Airport, about 2km. South-West of the Faisalabad General Bus Stand and about 2km. North-West of the Faisalabad Railway Station and Government Transport Bus Stand.
The university's faculty comprises more than 500 teachers of whom 224 hold Ph.D. degrees mainly from foreign universities.
The university is organized into faculties of Agriculture, Agricultural Engineering and Technology, Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology, Animal Husbandry, Veterinary Science, Sciences, and a Division of Education and Extension all located at the main campus in Faisalabad, and College of Veterinary Sciences at Lahore was affiliated which has now upgraded as University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Lahore (UVAS).
These units offer programmes leading to B.Sc. Agricultural Engineering, D.V.M., B.Sc. (Hons.), M.Phil, and Ph.D. degrees in agriculture and allied fields. HEC ranks the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad as a best university in the agriculture/veterinary field.
